8 Million Tourists Came to Georgia Last Year

In 2018, eight million non-resident, international travelers visited Georgia according to the Georgian National Statistics Office. This is 9.8% higher compared to 2017. According to the report, 66.7% of those international visitors were tourists. The largest number of the tourists came from Russia, followed by Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkey.
In terms of age group, the majority of visitors were between 31-50 years old, followed by a younger crowd aged between 15 to 30. Most of those travelers came to Georgia for recreation, leisure, and holiday, while the 1,463 people used Georgia as a transit country to travel elsewhere.
The expensive of the travelers last year reached to 7.9 billion GEL, 37.4% higher than in 2017.
