Lithuania Promotes Georgia among its citizens as an answer to Russian tourism embargo
Lithuania is one of the first countries to support a new campaign of Georgia’s tourism industry which was launched after Putin issued a statement prohibiting Russian airlines to fly in Georgia due to the recent events that has happened in Tbilisi since June 20th. ‘World welcome to Georgia’ is the name of the campaign and Lithuanian government urges its citizens to travel to Georgia.
According to Giedrius Poudziunas, the Ambassador of Lithuania to Georgia, the country is a wonderful place for adventure. Additionally, Georgian citizens and travel bloggers call their foreign friends who have already been here to spread the word and encourage their friends, relatives, and colleagues to come to Georgia this summer.
Russian citizens are not happy with Putin’s statement and even started a petition against the flight ban. Currently, more than 21 thousand people have signed the petition at Change.org.
