Batumi selected as Europe’s chief emerging tourism destination
Batumi, the coastal town of the Black Sea, received the title of ‘Europe’s Leading Emerging Tourism Destination’ at the World Travel Awards held in Portugal on June 8.
The organizers of the ceremony noted that the breathtaking mix of Belle Époque matching with the contemporary brilliance helped Batumi to get the title.
According to Graham E. Cooke, the Founder of WTA, the inaugural event in Madeira has shown incredible success. “We have had the opportunity to recognize the leading hotels, destinations, resorts, travel providers, and airlines from all over Europe”, he continued.
Azerbaijan’s Baku, North Ireland’s Derry, Czechia’s Kutná Hora, Slovenia’s Ljubljana, Italy’s Matera, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Mostar, and Bulgaria’s Sofia were fighting for the same title as Batumi.
WTA frequently referred to as the Oscar in the tourism industry, was established in 1993 to recognize, award and mark perfection across all key sectors of the tourist, travel, and hospitality filed.
