RACHA

Racha with its mountainous relief is a gorgeous region of the country. The main city is Ambrolauri, where a visitor can explore beautiful nature, indulge in local cuisine, and experience local traditions including a traditional dance Rachuli.

Nikortsminda Cathedral is one of the important architectural marvels of Georgia. Built in the 11th century, the cathedral features stunning decorations both inside and outside.

Racha is also known for its Khvanchkara wine made of two varieties of grapes - Alexandria and Mudzhuretuli. The wine is red and semi-sweet with distinguished strong taste and is considered as a national treasure of the country. It should be noted that on Yalta conference held in 1945, Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Josef Stalin were drinking Khvanchkara Wine.

 Shovi Resort is another great landmark to visit in the region. Located at 1,600 meters above the sea level, Caucasian mountains surround the resort famous for its climate and beautiful forests occupying over 25 thousand hectares.
