David Gareji Monastery

David Gareji Monastery Complex is another significant landmark of the country. Located in the Kakheti region this famous rock-hewn monastery complex was built by one of the Assyrian monks, David, who came here to spread Christianity in the 6th century. The complex features churches, chapels, hundreds of cells, and beautiful fresco paintings that are still intact.
