Visitors to Georgian Protected Areas up by 21% as of October 2019

According to the Agency of Protected Areas of Georgia, the number of visitors to protected areas raised by 21% in October 2019 compared to the same period last year.

During the first 10 months of this year, a total of 1,130,400 travelers visited the protected territories, which is a 7% increase compared to the previous year. In terms of nationality, 49% were Georgian and the rest foreigners. The number of foreign travelers has increased by 14% compared to 2018.

As the report states, 63.5% of visitors explored following protected territories: Kazbegi National Park, Martvili Canyon, Prometheus Cave, Okatse Canyon, and Tbilisi National Park.

The total revenue from the protected territories of Georgia reached 9.4 million GEL in these 10 months, which is an 11% increase compared to 2018.
